app-crypt/gpgme package blocking kde3.3.3

  • Quote

Post by Dreq » Fri Sep 03, 2004 12:22 am

While trying to emerge kde3.3.3 with the keyword "~amd64" I get the following error:
!!! Error: the <=app-crypt/gpgme-0.3.14 package conflicts with another package.
!!! both can't be installed on the same system together.
!!! Please use 'emerge --pretend' to determine blockers.
Since its a crypt lib, I don't want to just un-emerge it as this may break thigns like KDEWaller and such. Any ideas?

Just remove it. You will get a newer version of gpgme during the installation. I did it and I don't have any problems :)

If you remove that package Sylpheed doesn't work because it need a library contained in this version only.
You can remove, update to kde 3.3.0, and after reinstall the 3.14 version.

i have the same problem, when i try to emerge kde 3.3 (3.2.2 is installed)

...but i think, i did something not so brilliant.
i thought i have to use emerge -u gpgme to uninstall it and so i did.
while it was going i get the feeling, i did something terribly wrong.
but i was afraid, that i can do another mistake, when i cancel the unmerge.

:?: so my question, what should i do to fix my system and what should i do to install kde 3.3 resp. unstall gpgme?

ps: i do not have a amd64, just a normal xp.

solved for me :)
