When I run an opengl application, it runs very fast, but my mouse becomes extremly sluggish. Why? The problem began when I switched my kernel to 2.6.9-rc1-mm1.

Hm, as it turns out, my system is now sluggish with any CPU intensive application, such as gcc. Perhaps this is a schedueler problem, could somebody please move this to kernels?

Are you sure? I think this is a kernel problem, because I had no such problems before switching the kernel.

For some reason, hdparm won't let me access dma while it is being used or whatever. I will try it with a live-cd.

Well, for some reason it won't let me access dma on /dev/sda:

Code: Select all

/dev/sda:
 HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Operation not supported
 IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    = 256 (on)
 geometry     = 20023/255/63, sectors = 321672960, start = 0
I get even fewer results from the 2004.2 gentoo live-cd.
