How to update the mirrors

I have some problem with 'emerge' and i think that the problem with the mirrors, so how can I update the mirrors, and how to use the fast mirrors?

Please; any one can help me

You must emerge mirrorselect first:

Your portage is out of date. There is only newer version of aspell available (http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?ca ... ame=aspell). Update portage with:

I tried to emerge the sync but this what happen.......

# emerge sync

I emerged the portage and I still have the same problem, it still has error with emerge sync and also with the emerge-webrsync. so where the problem

seems like rsync can't work through your proxy
use emerge-webrsync to sync the tree.

He probably means to type this:

emerge webrsync

instead of typing this:

emerge sync

It's an alternate way of "sync"ing your portage database (needed so that your setup knows the latest and greatest versions of things -- it will only have as updated a view of the world as your last "emerge sync" or "emerge webrsync".

are you doing an install?

cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf
