emerge and rc-update questions

I have a few questions regarding emerge and rc-update. I know these are very newbie questions sorry for asking them

1. How do i get a list of files added by rc-update?

2. How do i search for packages i've tried

emerge -S xmms

but i get these error messages

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.
Calculating dependencies 

emerge: all ebuilds that could satisfy "media-video/ati-gatos" have been masked.

Then to search, use -s rather than -S (Linux is case-sensitive)

Masked packages has been discussed in probably around 100-200 threads, try to use the search forum. Or even read the Portage documentation.

Hint: edit /usr/poratge/profiles/package.mask

emerge -S is a perfectly good way to search - it picks up more things than -s does, because it matches description fields as well as just package names.

Not only Linux/UNIX that is sensitive, I can see

You may try to do an emerge rsync if you haven't done so yet, I didn't get any errors during an emerge -S session.

Most ebuilds have something useful in the HOMEPAGE variable, and as I write this sentence I get the feeling I've written it before. See Package descriptions and change logs.
