Wine vs DosBox no way of choosing which runs

I have stacks of old games, and had started to use dosbox in 98se, then I was forced by circumstance to move to linux, as a nice aside rather a lot of my programs work under linux(no front end though bah), then with the magic of e-builds. Wine started to work. This is also goos as some windows games sort of run. Being a lasy gui user surely there is a way of deciding if my game runs in dod run dosbox and if in windows then run wine. Oh and is there any chance of having seperate registeries for these things.

I haven't seen any real list as such of what runs best where, or any sort of GUI switch util to choose between various programs to get old DOS games running (a GUI switcher to choose between DOSBox, WINE & WINEX would be interesting...).

It takes a bit of research to find how games run in each program - WINEX and DOSBOX both have lists of games on their website saying how well each supports a specific game.

go to http://appdb.winehq.org/ for a nice database of programs that run/sort of run/etc in wine. The database may also give you some pointers for installing/running certian games.

as for dosbox, I believe the project's homepage has a database that lists currently working apps/games under dosbox. check http://dosbox.sourceforge.net .

as for a frontend, why not just load up an old dos gui in dosbox? I use Quikmenu 3, which is good enough (but mainly used for nostalgic purposes :P ) or you could use :gasp: , windows 3.1+ !!!!!!
