Best bet for a keyboard is to go to a local store and see what feels most comfortable. Personally, I tend to like the cheaper no-frills keyboards with low, quiet keys like they had at my school. I've also enjoyed ergonomic keyboards, but it's hard to go back and forth between ergonomic and regular.

Edit: Actually that keyboard looks pretty nice :) Of course, you can never know without actually trying it.

I love my Keytronics keyboard. Very VERY comfortable and profesionally-made. It will run you almost 40 dollars, however.

Still, well worth the money if you type a lot.

I have an Logitech Internet Navigator with cord (the white one) and it feels comfortable. Buttons are programmable with lineakd and it types fine.

I simply don't care. I do like a keyboard with "light" keys though. But I don't care if the keyboard makes a lot of noise when pressing a key...

The nicest keyboard I had was a really silent and light one from compaq. Their computers may suck, but their keyboards rock :)
If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

Keyboard choice is very personal; an absolute dream for one person is another person's nightmare. As others have suggested, you can go to a well-stocked computer store and try all their models. Unfortunately, in my experience most stores stock keyboards that I personally consider utter and complete junk. (I'm a professional writer, so I spend a lot of time typing at my keyboard, and I've got strong preferences.) I personally like keyboards with mechanical (aka "buckling spring") keyswitches -- most of those you find in stores use rubber dome technology instead. Mechanical keyswitches produce a crisper, "clickier" feel than do rubber dome keyswitches, which are much softer or "mushier."

If you like mechanical keyswitches, check CVT, which makes the Avant line. These were formerly sold under the Northgate brand. I've got several of the original Northgates and I like them a lot, but I've not actually bought anything from CVT. These keyboards are expensive, though -- the cheapest is $149. Another option is to check PCKeyboard.com, which sells some models derived from old IBM designs (the sort of keyboards IBM sold with the original PC AT). These are less expensive, at $49-$109. They're available in both buckling spring and rubber dome models. They've got a Linux model that rearranges the Ctrl, Esc, and Caps Lock keys in a way that some Linux users prefer. (The CVT models can be adjusted along similar lines via DIP switches, and come with replacement keycaps.) Note that I've never bought from PCKeyboards.com; I've just got them bookmarked for any future needs I might have.

Hackers and myself like the Cherry G81-3000. It is the touch and reliability that counts. :)

Woohoo, got my ortek keyboard today. It's umm, well, different. But not in a bad way. It does kick some serious ass...but a lot of the keys are in different places than my old one so it's going to take some getting used to. It's extremely quiet, the keys are easy to press, and I can type hella fast on it.

For some reason though, when I plugged my keyboard in to USB, my ps2 mouse stopped working. I had to hook it into usb also to get it to work. So now all (2) of my usb ports are used up. Where am I going to hook my printer to??? :?
