Connecting a windows system using the parallel port

Hi all!

Everytime I want to get files from my notebook using the parallel port I have got to restart my system and use windows to do it and that just... sucks! Is it possible to connect a windows system with Linux using the parallel port?

It certainly should be - just compile PLIP into the kernel and make a parallel connection with Samba running (or with smbclient if that's more convenient).
There's bound to be a howto somewhere.
