python-2.3.3 ebuild falls

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

python-2.3.3 ebuild falls

I'm updating my system and get the following error

Code: Select all

!!! File is corrupt or incomplete. (Digests do not match)
>>> our recorded digest: 70ada9f65742ab2c77a96bcd6dffd9b1
>>>  your file's digest: b578221ebd59863e92457f377cba9ef6
!!! File does not exist: /usr/portage/distfiles//Python-2.3.3.tar.bz2
It looked like the ebuild file has an extra / in the path and I trust the source so I digest the file as follows

Code: Select all

ebuild /usr/portage/dev-lang/python/python-2.3.3.ebuild digest
now i get this error.

Code: Select all

>>> emerge (1 of 40) dev-lang/python-2.3.3 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) Python-2.3.3.tar.bz2
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking Python-2.3.3.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/python-2.3.3/work

bzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing.
        Input file = /usr/portage/distfiles/Python-2.3.3.tar.bz2, output file = (stdout)

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

!!! ERROR: dev-lang/python-2.3.3 failed.
!!! Function unpack, Line 313, Exitcode 2
!!! failure unpacking Python-2.3.3.tar.bz2
How do I fix this? I've already deleted Python-2.3.3.tar.bz2 from /usr/portage/distfiles a couple times, ran emerge sync after deleting all the files in /usr/portage/dev-lang/python and ran fixpackages.

Look at your error output. This looks like a classic corrupt file your getting.

"emerge sync" and try using a different mirror next time you emerge this pkg. I don't think your the only one that has had this problem recently.

DO not remove your previous python pkg.. and look through the "Portage & Programming" forum for similar posts. I know I've seen acouple.

HTH's.

I get the same error trying to emerge Gnome. However, the files are not corrupt. I can manually unzip them just fine. And every time I try to emerge Gnome, it says craps out on different files and gives me the EOF error. Any suggestions?
Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper.
