You can download docs from www.gentoo.org :)
But I think that gentoo without network isn't gentoo so switch to another console and

Code: Select all

lynx www.gentoo.org
Good luck and I think that docs on gentoo are the best thing you can find.

This is how it says:
/bin/ash: can't access tty; job control turned off
newroot # lynx www.gentoo.org
/bin/ash: lynx: not found
newroot #

links should be available on the gentoo 2004.0 boot cd (full/minimal)
It might not be able to find links if you are in chroot, but i'm not sure which stage you're at during install.

when you type

Code: Select all

links www.gentoo.org
what error do you get? Something like "File not found" or perhaps "Host not found"? It might be your internet connection..

maybe you can print the documents before starting the gentoo installation? Or maybe have another computer to read the step-by-step installation guide while installing?

Anyways, the 'links2' executable might not be in the path, and you have to manually find it. Probably it is somewhere in /usr/bin, or /bin. Also, links2 will of course not work if you have no internet connection...

Good luck!

is install.txt still included on the livecd? When I built my gentoo 1.4, i just followed along by switching to another terminal and typing "less install.txt" or "less /install.txt" i don't remember where it was. It's a textfile that says basically the same thing as the online docs.
