Hello,
I use sys-boot/raspberrypi-firmware and sys-kernel/raspberrypi-image, and I would like to use gpu_mem=16 parameter in /boot/config.txt
But if I set it, my Raspberry Pi (256 Mb version) hangs at boot, with a wonderful red/yellow/orange gradient.
I didn't have that problem with the stage3 I loaded and the firmware files proposed by the wiki.
How can I reduce the video memory, so that I can maximize the little RAM? _________________ Kind regards,

XavierMiller,
I use the rpi-update script to keep my kernel and firmware up to date and the gpu_mem=16 works for me in a 256M Pi. _________________ Regards,

Solved: the problem was the presence of CMA parameters. I commented them out, and both rpi-update and Portage versions work. I switched to Gentoo version. _________________ Kind regards,
