hi,
i wanted to install mplayer.. and i found out that mplayer2 exists..
now.. i don't know wich one to install.
wich is better, in you opinion?
mplayer or mplayer2?
have them both a gui interface for gnome? or gnome-mplayer is only for mplayer?
have them the same command line option/switches?
wich one is more efficient?
wich one better handles damaged/broken media files?
thank you :-) |

Hello,
I think both does not have a native gui. You need Gnome-mplayer who can use mplayer and mplayer2 has motor, or Smplayer or Smplayer2. If you look at the USE flags of each of them Code: |
equery u mplayer
equery u mplayer2 |
Mplayer have more options than Mplayer2. Go to http://www.mplayer2.org/ for best understand what changes the fork did. _________________ Paul |

Yet another front-end for mplayer/mplayer2: UmPlayer.
Looks much more better than SMplayer.
It is not in a portage tree, but I build it from sources and switched from smplayer. |
