I recently ad to replace a motherboard and the new one has onboard video via radeon hd 4200. Everything is working pretty much fine (at least for what I used it for before) BUT mplayer won't play videos in fullscreen mode (and xvinfo reports "no adaptors present"). I'm using the open source drivers. Should I switch to the closed-source drivers?
solution: clock skew meant the kernel wasn't actually getting built right. duh. now I have a different problem, though.

Actually it's not that mplayer can't play fullscreen, per se, it's that it can't change the display output of any video. That is, if the original size of the video is too large to fit onscreen, in the past going to fullscreen output would actually have shrunk it, making it fit the screen. That doesn't happen anymore. But I'll emerge xine and see what's what there. |
