Since I've been waiting for quite some time for support for my HDAV slim, I though I'd let you know that they're adding support for it in alsa in 2.6.38. I built the git kernel, and have passthrough S/PDIF at least working. HDMI shows up in alsamixer, but not in the device list, and I haven't figured out a way to get sound out of it yet.
