|
Hello!
my problem is I can't get to play any sounds in media players. Amarok&Kaffeine report that xine can't initialize the audio drivers, mplayer&vlc just won't play any sound. I am pretty sure it is NOT a kernel problem, as ogg123 plays files just fine and there is no problem being reported when loading the drivers.
a little background to my system:
gentoo-sources-2.6.26-r1
x86
intel_hda sound module
I know that this configuration works, as I run a similar gentoo system on the same hardware, just as 64 bit rather than 32bit.
I assume there must be a flaw somewhere in the libraries, but don't know which one to re-emerge. revdep-rebuild does not report any problems either. |

so, here the output of emerge --info
in case you wonder why there is so many sound cards, this is because I wanted to leave it open in order to be able to plug my usb hdd into any computer and boot gentoo from there.

You might want to consider adding the following USE flags to your /etc/make.conf file: Code: | a52 aac alsa ao audiofile avi flac lame ladspa mad mp3 mpeg sndfile theora vorbis win32codecs x264 | then run emerge -aDNuv system world. That will update all your players so they can handle other sound file formats.
Blessed be!
