|
|
I installed a new kernel(2.6.21.1) and was using the built in ALSA modules.
Problem is it sorta worked....However the sound volume was way too low.
I then tried using the alsa-driver in portage and got the same results....the
volume was way too low. If I switch back to built in ALSA 2.6.19.x the sound
works perfectly... The Master channel isn't muted, I just cannot increase the volume
using amixer or alsamixergui......
Card is hda-intel.
latest alsa drivers and headers.
If any other info is needed I can post it. |

have you tried using the alsa-supplied drivers? I hear the kernel drivers are usually a little behind, what with the additional delay of kernel integration. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration

I can't help you, but I know i've seen it before. I just didn't commit to memory because I don't have a fancy new intel hi-definition sound card like that one.
if my memory serves me right, the fellow with the problem like yours was instructed to merely add some contents to a config file somewhere, after which the extra controls were reportedly available. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration

I think there's another file somewhere... sorry I can't be more helpful. Since I just stumbled upon it, I have no idea what I was even doing when I found it. It's a good bet it was on these forums -- if not, then on the gentoo-user mailinglist, no doubt. you can read the archives without dealing with any actual email. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Seems like a pretty good solution to me. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration

Hi,
have you tried to see if there are other sound devices? If you selected the correct device in alsamixer you can go one "preferences" and enable other volume controls; then try to increase front to have you card playing louder.
Good luck! |

I think the file-editing I was talking about was effectively manually adding controls to the card, so that seems about right. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration
