xmms replacement

Cant't realy find any good replacement for xmms.
Audacious is the best i've testet, it looks very good but feels realy slow. Like when you scroll down the playlist, it hangs/freezes when loading id3 tags, when you close the player it plays for a second or two.
A while back i did something realy stupid, unmerging xmms and merging Audacious. xmms was very smooth, it was stable, fast, and got all the functions i was looking for.

Now i see they have removed xmms entirely from portage, without any good replacement (that i have come over). Anyone know about a media player (xmms/winamp clone) that does'nt feel slow and buggy when you use it? Just something that works and looks good, something just like xmms.
