It seemed I had lots of problems earlier and I switched to Kubuntu. Kubuntu is like someone sitting in a straight jacket all the time and each moment I used it I wanted to go back to Gentoo but was hesitating as I need a working system fast and installing Gentoo takes a lot of time, so I opted for Kororaa.

Installation went fine and now I am posting from a working system, however when I emerge anything I get this:

Help is appreciated, I don't want to go back to Kubuntu.

portage looks pretty borked to me

- make sure that your filesystem is intact (fsck.* )
- have you executed
Code:
emerge --metadata
or
Code:
emerge --sync
at the beginning ?
or doesn't that work
- download my backup of portage-directory
and copy the contents (portage with 2 subfolders bin & pym) to /usr/lib/ (before that save /usr/lib/portage)
this should give go you a working portage (if python isn't affected)

you could also try out sabayon linux ... (also based on gentoo)

Have a look at this topic: portage fails - errno 16 Device or resource busy.
