I would like to create a 'headless' tivo box. In other words, I want to put a tv card in a box, NOT load any of the X11 stuff, and just have the box be able to record through the card. I would then put the recordings on a fileshare, and view the recordings on other machines hooked into my network. Does anyone know if you can run either the 'vcr' program or something else (like freevo) from the command line only, without installing X11 binaries?
Thanks... |

MythTV can be run this way, as of 0.8 or later. You can use a remote box to do all of the GUI stuff, and the database and capture stuff will happen on the headless box. |
