I have a problem with xmms 1.2.7-r19. I open it up in the mornings when I get to work and play a streaming station like groove salad. After a few hours, I notice that my system is crawling. I check gkrellm and the memory AND swap status bar shows it's at full! As soon as I close xmms, the memory is freed up.
This has only happened recently. I did upgrade the alsa-drivers and alsa-lib to 0.9.1...could this cause xmms to eat up memory? Any other package that depends on/is depended by xmms that I should look at?
I've tried re-emerging xmms but to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone offer some suggestions? |

Just want to see if anyone who may have missed the post the first time can take a quick look and maybe offer some insight into this. |

I don't have any "insight" into this, only a big nod that it happens to me, too (you are not alone)... I've looked on the xmms sight at their bug reports and there are maybe 3 or 4 related to memory leaks of which only one seemed potentially related, but unresolved. |

yeah i have that problem sometimes too. it would be nice if xmms would release a new version sometime. its also lacking a few simple features, such as "stop after current track" which makes it even worse. also its about time they should update it to gtk2. almost every other open source app has. |

Just another check mark in the "this is happening to me too" box. It was really confusing me at first, I couldn't undertand why my system would start to crawl. Then, I would use top to check what was using all the memory, and xmms is chewing away at it like it's going out of style. |

I use the audigy oss driver and xmms sits at 5Mb usage for weeks.
Maybe you are all using a buggy driver ? |
