I have a DVD writer but for some reason I can not seem to setup it up so I can burn DVD's
My DVD (BentQ) is recognize at boot:

in my fstab I've:

Do I need anything special enabled in kernel in order to write to DVD's
When I try to write to dvd I get an error:
#growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc=/home/joseph/Documents/dvd_NTSC.iso
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/home/joseph/Documents/dvd_NTSC.iso of=/dev/hdc obs=32k seek=0'
/dev/hdc: "Current Write Speed" is 2.5x1385KBps.
:-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=5h/ASC=21h/ACQ=02h]: Invalid argument
 write failed: Invalid argument

In addition I get:
# growisofs -Z /dev/hdc -R -J /home/joseph/Documents/dvd_NTSC.iso
/dev/hdc: media is not recognized as recordable DVD: 0
cdrecord -scanbus is not listing my DVD either:

what does 'dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/hdc' show?

Solved.
When I created fstab entry, I did not create /mnt/dvdr directory; I was under impression that that dvdr directory will be created automatically.
So initially the 'dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/hdc' didn't show anything after I created "dvdr" it displays information and it allow me to burn the DVD's |

The big thing is you fixed it..
btw you may find http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=92 useful later on ref yiur BenQ burner.
