|
|
When using iriverter for converting whatever into an xvid that fits my iaudio X5V, mencoder crashes into an segmentation fault.
the command generated by iriverter is: Code: |
mencoder -v -v -v /home/jonas/azureus_downloads/frameno.avi -o /home/jonas/azureus_downloads/frameno.x5.avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=500:max_bframes=0 -oac mp3lame -lameopts mode=2:cbr:br=128 -vf filmdint=io=23976:10000,scale=220:150,expand=220:176,harddup -af resample=44100 -ofps 10.0 -srate 44100 -ffourcc XVID |
(the "-v -v -v" is added by me to get some more info).
and this is what i get, after some copy and paste: Code: | ...(thousands of lines of verbose info)...
SwScale params: 220 x 150 (-1=no scaling)

the funny thing is that this worked just fine until yesterday when i wanted to convert a "real media" file into x5.avi and realized i had to recompile mplayer with USE=real, thats when it all started, after this mencoder always fails on this input. i have recompiled mplayer a couple of thimes now wtih diffrent use-flags and always ended up whit the same result (even on rm-files). I'm now back at the use-setup i had from the beginning: Code: | # grep mplayer /etc/portage/package.use
media-video/mplayer -3dfx -3dnow -3dnowext X -aac aalib alsa -altivec arts -bidi -bl cdparanoia -cpudetection -custom-cflags -debug -dga -directfb divx4linux -doc dts dv dvb dvd dvdread edl encode esd -fbcon -ggi gif gtk -i8x0 -ipv6 -jack -joystick jpeg libcaca -lirc -live -lzo mad matroska -matrox mmx -mmxext -mythtv -nas nls -nvidia opengl oss png -real -rtc -samba sdl sse sse2 svga tga theora truetype -v4l -v4l2 vorbis win32codecs xanim -xinerama xmms xv xvid xvmc win32codecs |
has this got something to do with the resampling-thingie, it once worked when i removed the "resample=44100" i however got a raw-avi file that could not be runned on my iaudio.
any ideas??
thanks! |

Did you try:
Code: | revdep-rebuild -p -v |
Sometimes libraries get orphaned on their dynamic links and mplayer relies on quite a few dynamic libraries. I had broken mplayer a few weeks ago due to some bad libraries. |

You can re-run revdep-rebuild to verify that all libraries and binaries
are fixed. If some inconsistency remains, it can be orphaned file, deep
dependency, binary package or specially evaluated library.

mplayer is not mentioned anywhere but i will try run without the "-pv" flag anyway (seems like a good idea), and return here next year to tell you the resut.
untill then:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! (in sweden it's just a few hours away now) |

a few rebuilds later, and still not very much, but at least it seems like some movies will convert and some will cause segmentation fault in mencoder, but i wont go futher with this.
i return here if things change, pherhaps the next version of mplayer will do better. _________________ when he was six he believed that the moon overhead followed him

Happy New Year to you too!
revdep-rebuild did show media libs were out of sync and that has been my problem in the past when mplayer segfaults.
Hmm, I wonder if you have bad RAM? |

Does it work with any files? Or does it never work? (could be a problem with the realplayer format) Will it encode into formats other than xvid, like ffmpeg's vanilla mpeg4? (could be a xvid problem) Does it dump halfway through encoding or immediately? (if it gets some or much of the recode done, then it's probably not a problem with broken library dependancies)
You could also try the cvs version of mplayer. |

It dumps immediately. i have succsessfully converted rm-movies to avi, but not into the full spec that my X5 require. some movies are always crashing and some alwaus working (most LoL-realeses seems to work). it seems like it crhashes when i'm using the commands given by iriverter, i havent tried other formats.
Iriverter is used for converting movies to a codec/framerate/scale/.../ that some portble mp3/movie players support, so i can watch simpssons on a 2 inch screen.

xvid is working i think it depends what i'm coding from
heres some info mplayer gives me on the latest movie i converted, this is the source avi:
mplayer wrote: | VIDEO: [XVID] 512x384 12bpp 23.976 fps 1017.9 kbps (124.3 kbyte/s)
Clip info:
Software: VirtualDub |
this is info from the resulting avi:
mplayer wrote: | VIDEO: [XVID] 160x128 12bpp 15.000 fps 156.2 kbps (19.1 kbyte/s)
Clip info:
Software: MEncoder 1.0pre7try2-3.4.4 |
both are xvid, seems to work just fine.
the rm file that gives me the folowing result however is the one that gives me segfault:
mplayer wrote: | Stream description: Audio Stream
Stream mimetype: audio/x-pn-realaudio
Stream description: Video Stream
Stream mimetype: video/x-pn-realvideo
Stream mimetype: logical-fileinfo
VIDEO: [RV40] 352x240 24bpp 29.000 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s) |
a wmw-file also created segfault:
mplayer wrote: | ASF file format detected.
VIDEO: [WMV2] 640x480 24bpp 1000.000 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s) |
and this mpeg also didnt, work.
mplayer wrote: | VIDEO: MPEG1 320x240 (aspect 1) 30.000 fps 750.0 kbps (93.8 kbyte/s) |
seems like it is only xvid -> xvid that do work with this set of opions.
all the above file plays flawless in mplayer. |

Could you try converting to xvid with out all the options you need just do a straight what ever format to xvid first then run the new xvid thru iriverter to the correct xvid spec you need ...

i was just thinking about that, but mplayer gives me far to many options and i dont know how that is done?
but i'm trying for a little while more. _________________ when he was six he believed that the moon overhead followed him

it seems like the "-af resample=44100" is the major problem.
because this works fine: Code: | # mencoder realM_test.rm -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts pass=1 -o test1xvid.av |
and this causes a segmentation fault: Code: | # mencoder realM_test.rm -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts pass=1 -af resample=44100 -o test2AVI.avi |
and the file produced by the first call (test.x1xvid.avi) is also causing a segfault when used with the wanted options.
here is some output from the console (using the second command in this post).
Code: |
mencoder -v -v realM_test.rm -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts pass=1 -af resample=44100 -o test2xvid.avi

if resample is the problem well then i removed the resample part (since it seemed like it was the same anyway). this time it worked like a charm, oh yeah it all turned black and white though.
i used this command: Code: | # mencoder realM_test.rm -o test.x5.avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=256:max_bframes=0 -oac mp3lame -lameopts mode=2:cbr:br=192 -vf filmdint=io=29000:15000,scale=160:109,expand=160:128,harddup -ofps 15.0 -ffourcc XVID |
problem is: black and white and some flickering in the begining. |

seems like it was the "-vf filmdint=io=29000:15000" that cased the grayscale this is strange, this option would be usefull.
but this movie is not important at all. hope i will get it working until i find a movie that i rally want in my X5 |

Thanks for mentioning this about resample. I haven't had this problem. I will make the appropriate changes to iriverter. |
