I am having issues with XMMS. It won't take URL's when I try to add a shoutcast server that is on the local subnet.
It freezes, etc. I have unmerged and re-emerged but it comes back in the same state.
When I run XMMS you see the following.
Code: | tomg@mail tomg $ ps -ef |grep xmms
tomg 9435 1 0 09:24 ? 00:00:00 xmms
tomg 9436 9435 0 09:24 ? 00:00:00 xmms
tomg 9437 9436 0 09:24 ? 00:00:00 xmms
tomg 9438 9436 0 09:24 ? 00:00:00 xmms
tomg 9492 9456 0 09:26 pts/0 00:00:00 grep xmms

I can't completely kill all the PID's, and if I restart XMMS it adds another session.
Any suggestions to a resolution? A way to completely uninstall and delete all related files then reinstall?
Thanks |

To completely remove it, run emerge -C xmms and then look which files don't get removed (!cfgpro). Delete them maually, and also ~/.xmms and you're done.
I had the same issue with XMMS ever since, if you're on KDE I suggest you try amaroK which is definitely the VERY BEST audio player I've ever seen (so many cool features).

I don't know rythmbox, but I've heart it' cool Definitely much better than XMMS imho - I don't want to say that XMMS is bad, but I never really liked those Winamp-like audio players.
