Much of the Gentoo user's life is adversity. Very little is given on a plate; most things need to be battled before they are just right. But every now and then, something gets thrown in that you didn't ask for, but you would have if you weren't busy on some larger problem.
Here's an example: textareas in Firefox. When I first started using it, it drove me quietly mad that when you moved the cursor up or down in a textarea (like the one I'm typing in right now), the cursor jumped to the start or end of that line. The (you'd think) fairly basic behaviour of the cursor inserting itself to the vertically-equivalent position in the line just wasn't there. I would have filed a bug about this, if I hadn't been busy fixing bloody X and KDE as a priority.
I don't know exactly when this changed, but just today I noticed that the cursor is now doing exactly what you'd expect it to on every other browser/platform. I was so happy I could have cried....
Anyone else have an example of a deep-seated Gentoo annoyance that just got fixed without them having to do anything? |

That has never been default behaviour.
Did you change your keyboard config when upgarding xorg?
Cause I've got a feeling that might have something to do with it. |
