Hi

I'm looking for an audio player (except xmms) which can auto hide to the edge of the screen. Currently I'm using xmms with weasel plugin but I'd prefer something more font-friendly (qt ot gtk2).

Thx in advance for any suggestions

Well, rythmbox and muine can put an icon in the gnome system tray which auto hides the window for you when you click on it. I don't think that's what you're asking for though.

I think almost any player can do it :). But I need auto-hiding without any clicking at all, exactly like xmms-weasel or xmms-karamba works.

If your using gnome you can use gdesklets. The corner xmms one is great. It doesn't autohide but becomes part of the desktop instead. Or gxmms. It's just a panel applet that controls xmms. Other than that I don't know.

I just thought of another cool app. mpd is a daemon that plays music. It has several front-ends including a web interface. It can handle all the music formats out there and uses playlists. It even has a front end that turns it into a jukebox. It's in portage along with most of the supported front ends. Even a command line client.

I think you didn't understand my question. The problem isn't to find good audio player, but to find _interface_ which works like autohiding panel.

Corner-xmms is good, but I never see my desktop 'cause it's always covered by windows. Panel applets are also good, but I mostly need the playlist and they provide only basic controls.

Ok cool. I still think mpd might work for you if you use the web interface or the ncurses one. Not exactly what you are describing but it would work. The web interfacce could always be open in a seperate tab or the ncurses interface can be brought up with just a few keystrokes or kept open in a seperate tab in gnome-terminal or konsole. Just trying to help you out :D
