lol tld Tom, guess this is what happens when you read something out of context and not in it's entirety. It might help untangle your circular logic assumptions if you go back and read the whole post which is partially quoted here, and perhaps that entire linked thread too _________________ "Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell." Sorry...point taken. I misunderstood several things there. So I assume that when you said:

Voila… those same solutions help resolve my OpenRC issues. | ...you were just referring to the fact that recent OpenRC versions have been emulating systemd...not that it necessarily should(?). Again...apologies for jumping to conclusions.

Don't remember which thread it got started it, but just filed a bug report for making at-spi (atk-bridge) optional in gtk3
https://bugs.gentoo.org/669234
Edit to add: Is there a repository of user patches, a place where one could go to find them? (I don't mean /etc/portage/patches)
I did look at making the atk-bridge a user patch, but the ebuild doesn't have epatch_user and at least that would have to be added.
And as a user patch there would be no either/or, if the patch applied there is no-atk-bridge, if not applied then you have it. _________________ PRIME x570-pro, 3700x, 6.1 zen kernel

Is there a Gentoo Chat overlay yet? Chatlay sounds vaguely dirty. |

Hey Tom, no worries. I suspected that's what probably happened. I didn't initially understand what you were saying, but khayyam cleared my confusion. I am not the one saying that OpenRC should(?) emulate systemd. _________________ "Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell." Edward Abbey |
