You'd be better off asking in the french gentoo forum, but yes, rebuilding the kernel is possible
and in fact expected. You need to emerge gentoo-sources if you haven't already, and then either
run genkernel or use "make menuconfig" . There's a lot of information on kernel builds in the
Gentoo documentation.

Correct. Moved from Kernel & Hardware to French where it will hopefully get more attention.

thanks very much guys but i want that you awnser for this thanks pls, i have installed the system and i m in Kde desktop, and i want to set up the power manager, for this i have to set up somme new configuration in the kernel, i use as in the instalation of the system -gentoo- using make menuconfig. but i have not compiled it yet, i want to now if the way is the same as in the installation ( what mean by the command# make && make modules_install and next by coping the kernel image in the boot part) or here the way is diffrent, also if i do what this can affect the installed programme in part and the system at all in other part (note im in kde and i won^t to repeat his instalation )

Yes, the way of changing/updating the kernel is exactly the same as the one described in the handbook. This won't affect any piece of software running on your computer as long as you do not remove functionality and/or options in the kernel they need to operate correctly. _________________ Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly ? |

Le message étant adressé en français et déplacé dans la section francophone (par des modos anglophones), je préconise de continuer en français _________________ Kind regards,
