I noticed that eix had a sqlite use flag and since I have sqlite installed, I thought I would try it out. The man page refers you to a tip on the Gentoo wiki which, as we know, got trashed. I found https://bugs.gentoo.org/52321 but it is four years old. I have portage-2.2_rc13 installed, so is the sqlite backend still a good idea?

I'm still using it and it's quite fast. Google still has it cached(site:gentoo-wiki.com portage sqlite). |

If I plug that reference into Google I just get an error. Is the caching just for eix or does it apply to emerge as well? _________________ "Ship me somewheres east of Suez, where the best is like the worst,

For me, it speeds up `emerge -s`, the `Calculating dependencies`-thingy and the update after `--sync`.
Edit, just try it, depending on your use YMMV, says the howto. |

Ok, I am impressed, eix now appears to be instant! Thanks for the pointers. _________________ "Ship me somewheres east of Suez, where the best is like the worst,
