Hi,
does anybody know how to install the Canon LBT 3000 printer in gentoo? There is some rpm package on canon site, but I don't know, how to install it and if it is good way in Gentoo. Thanx in advance for your help. |

Hello,
I suggest that you do install no binary package in your Gentoo box, especially drivers or similar stuff, if possible. I think that you can give a look at this guide.
It worked good for me.
But... wait a moment: in linuxprinting.org this printer is not supported. Is it a very recent model? I fear you have to try the binary "Linux Printer Driver (CAPT)" from the web site, until the CUPS guys do not find a solution.
Maybe You can try adding an overlay directory, and installing the driver there (you can find the necessary informations here). It is a compressed archive, which can be downloaded as source code. You can try emerging it after correctly setting portage. Just make sure you previously emerged ghostscript.
Hope to have helped a bit.
