I'm running a Gnome-only desktop.
I was wondering if the above KDE app will work on my Gnome desktop?
I see that it's in gentoo-portage.com but I don't know if it'll work with my Gnome desktop.
Its dependencies are listed as kde-base/kdelibs-3.3 and x11-libs/qt-3.3* but I don't have either installed. If I emerge these and then emerge mTaskbar will it work on my Gnome desktop?
I'm reluctant to try it myself as my hardware is quite limited (1GHz CPU) and compile times are very slow. So I was hoping someone could answer my query definitively. _________________ VIA EPIA N10000

You need qt and kdelibs to compile it.
Additionaly, the result will be a .so file (amongst many other things) that is a plugin for kicker, that basically means that without the kickers abi or an equivalent one (and such a thing does not exist, as far as I know), you will not be able to use that plugin. Of course, you can always use kicker under gnome, if you want. Just remove all the applets and leave only the taskbar if that is the only thing you need.
I can't tell you how well or bad this combo will work. Kicker might or might now work too well within gnome. I have no idea. |
