I am currently using Ark and well it sucks. I need something (Preferably QT) that will open archived files and allow me to extract them via drag/drop. Yes i know ark does this but it almost never works always pops up errors etc. I need something that works please. |

Hi,
Not too much available. Did you try to solve the error with Ark?
What does the message say?

Appart from ark and konqueror (that can open some types via io-slaves) I dont know of any qt frontend that does the same. That means two things:
1.- That you will have to continue using ark and konqueror to manage this or choose a non-qt solution.
2.- That, if you pick a non-qt solution you will, probably, not have the power to drag and drop.
In any case, what are the problems you are experiencing? If those errors come from corrupted/protected files you can't blame ark. What ark version are you using? Maybe if you provide more info about your problems someone could help you. Try running ark in a terminal emulator and try to open one of those problematic files, then see if something usefull spits out in the terminal.
Also, you should upgrade to the latest version if you are not already using it, since it has improved in some aspects, overall when managing big files, and now also it has .ace support.
Anyway, the command line tools rules when it come to these kind of things. |

Isn't the integrated kio-slave implementation of kde enough for your needs ? Other than that I guess you could always write your own small GUI frontend to a custom tar command (something like QT/Python or QT/Ruby). _________________ Momo_CCCP |
