hi all,
i've run through the threads i could find regarding this and it seems there are differing solutions for several people and a handful (like me) with no solution...
in firefox and konqueror, flash plugins have no text. the text and links can be selected by mouse, but i cannot see it. i've installed and re-installed all the various font packages and have installed -re-installed xfs and reconfigured it... still no love.
i am btw running nvidia's binary drivers (a la emerge --nodeps) with xorg-7.1 however my fonts in X are working fine. is the missing text in flash related to this? before everyone says yes, i'd like to point out that i found threads dating back well before xorg-7.1 was out, where users were having the same problem.
so, is there a known problem with nvidia/xorg-7.1/flash and missing text? if not, i assume i have a new permutation of an old problem - could someone tell what i need to do to fix this?
many thanks in advance. |

One thing you should check is the flash version that the movies you are trying to see use. Current flash is 9, and under linux we can only get flashplayer 7. |

yeah, unfortunately it doesn't matter. every other element works, but the text won't show up. it's been this way for a while. |

Hey,
I am having the same trouble. The text is also missing from the settings window when I right click the flash application.
Anyone know what is causing this?
I have MSCoreFonts installed and adobe 100dpi and adobe 75dpi.
My gentoo was up to date as of 8h00 EDT 10/17/2006.
I tried the changes suggested by the thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-471444-highlight-flash+text.html
Thanks,
David |

I fixed this problem by uncommenting the following line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1"
Hope it works! |
