I often use the View Your Posts button as a way to reference problems I'm solved. I've noticed that some of my posts have started to disappear. Is there some sort of cleanup cycle where some posts get deleted?

No, we don't delete posts; it's just that the "View My Posts" search only looks for posts in the last 8 weeks. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

That's correct. I don't know the time frame for the purge cycle, but they do get purged after a time.
If you are looking for one of your posts, search for posts with your username in the 'author' field.
CORRECTION: As the moderator has indicated, they don't get deleted. |

Yes, basically to save server resources. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |

And somewhere between the message counts of for example pilla and NeddySeagoon, search_author does not return all the posts. |

That search is limited due to the size that can be held in the search results cache table. _________________ Search | Read | Answer | Report | Strip |

Does it make sense to have that search fill the cache with those most recent first?
Perhaps there are practical and technical considerations. Not many have so many posts. |

Hmm, I thought it did that already, obviously not. I'll fix it and include it in the next upgrade. _________________ Search | Read | Answer | Report | Strip |

I'm having a problem with my system that is similar to a problem that I had discussed on th forums earlier this year, so I logged in and clicked 'View your posts'. It only returned the three most recent posts--not the one that I'm looking for. What's up with that? Did my post from July/June get archived? If so is there an archive that I can look at? _________________ God save us from His followers. |

|
|
hello,
I regularly get back to posts I've sent, to check the described issues and given solutions, by clicking on the "view your post" link, but only very few appear. I get some others of mine when I fill the search engine with my name.... Have the others been removed or deleted ?
Edit: Merged here from GFF. --Maedhros _________________ Core 2 Quad 9400, Asus PQ5 Pro, Nvidia Geforce GTX 66O |
