|

This noob needs some assistance. Here's what I was greeted with this morning in my in-box (an email sent from a cron job I run in the wee hours, the result of emerge -pvu world).
I need a Readers Digest version on how to get around these blocks preventing me from emerging the new packages. Thanks in advance. -Jeff
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies
!!! Packages for the following atoms are either all
!!! masked or don't exist:
dev-php/php dev-php/mod_php

Ok, here's the "Reader's Digest":
Code: | emerge --ask --unmerge xorg-x11 utempter
emerge --update --ask --deep xorg-x11
emerge --update --ask --newuse world
revdep-rebuild |
Note that until you reinstall xorg-x11 (the second line above) you will not have X11 installed in your system. |

Before you run mc_barron's little set of codes there, you'll need to update Portage to 2.1 or higher first. It's in your update list... a simple:
Code: | emerge --update --ask portage |
should do you just fine. Then update your config files.
