what does the 'masked by ~x86 keyword mean?' How do i remove it (except by adding it to /etc/portage/package.keywords)

~x86 (or any other ~ARCH) means this is a "testing" package. It takes some time for a new version of a software to get "stable" (x86), which means there have to be no stability or security issues for some time. If you need this package NOW, add "=package_name-version_number ~x86" to your /etc/portage/package.keywords. If you dont need it now, wait for the package version to stabilize.

It means that this package is masked for the x86 architecture.

Check here and there for more information.
