Hi,

I am having some strange non-fatal boot errors when enabling a fbsplash

I can enable the framebuffer ok, but when I add the splash options, it causes the system to try and write to /var (specificaly creating some kind of cache and writing /var/init.d/deptree /var/init.d/depcache) before the root filesystem has been writen in a rw mode. Does anyone know what could cause this.

I have basicaly followd the gensplash instructions from the wiki. I have done it before successfully with a genkernel kernel on a different machine. This time I configured a manual kernel.

It happens whether I use a initrd or not.

Code:
emerge sync

Code:
emerge baselayout

This should fix it right up.
