I found this out as soon as I emerged the wireless-tools and ran iwconfig.
Something like the following fixed my problem
Code: Select all
ifconfig eth0 down
cd /etc/init.d
/etc/init.d/net.eth0 stop
mv net.eth0 net.eth1
rc-update del net.eth0
ifconfig eth1 up
dhcpcd eth1I just reinstalled Gentoo on my laptop using (one of) the latest bootdisks (using Genkernel, not doing the kernel manually), and for whatever reason, I keep losing my network connection every half hour or so. In order to turn it "on", I have to either reboot or run
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/net.eth0 restartWhen I lose a connection, I can't even ping my gateway. Oddly, if I do a ping (gateway), I can leave it on for hours and never lose my connection.
Any ideas on where I might start?
FYI, here is my dmesg output
Code: Select all
