Hi all,
I am this " " close to ordering a Dell Poweredge SC1425 rack server. My HW config will be:
- 2 x 64-bit Intel® Xeon processor 2.8GHz with 1MB L2 cache
- 4GB DDR2 SDRAM (4x1GB 400MHz DIMMs)
- 1 x 80GB SATA Hd
- 1 x 160GB SATA Hd
The server will only run an IBM Lotus Domino 6.5.x server for:
- email (10 users)
- web (9000 individual visitors/month) and
- newsletter distribution (28.000 subscribers (2 bursts/month)
- some semi-simple web-applications
I'm running all this on a 1x933MHz Celeron with 1Gb RAM today.
Can you Gurus (said in the nicest tone ) tell me if I'm on the right track with this config?
Will I run into any snafus with the 64 bit arch? Am I braindead when I choose SATA instead of SCSI?
What do you think? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
/Hsnm. |

If this was to be used as a my desktop I would use SATA due to lower cost. For a server,
the SCSI protocol has features that might achieve better overall performance under
certain high load situations.
To achieve the highest performance, look into the read/write profile of Domino. IBM may
provide information that indicates which file system parameters will provide the best overall
performance. |

Thanks, will look into the Domino filesystem preference stuff. No other suggestions/ideas? Anyone?
