I'd really like to contribute this ebuild, eventually for addition to portage but I need your help. I've finished most of it so far, but still the kernel module does not get removed on uninstall of package. That causes warning on re-merge because of file-collision.

Here are the files:

Creating ebuild for usbsrvd, not uninstalling correctly

I am trying to create an ebuild for usbsrvd (USB Sharing via LAN). The package installs fine, but it does not uninstall the kernel module when unmerging and therefore produces a warning on next install that the file already exists. Here is what I have so far (initscript not done yet):

Yeah. But I don' t think this is Gentoo-specific. I googled a little and found people with this problem on other distributions, too (e.g. Ubuntu).

My hald ate around 1,5GB last time I checked. CPU also was at 100%.

What should be downgraded to stop this?

I also really think your PSK is NOT correct.

Did you really do "wpa_passphrase yourssid yourkey" to get that value? Because I always get a 64 char string when doing that.

I know. Perhaps you understand better what I mean when I ask why txqueuelen_eth1="1000" doesn' t :)

Ahhh that did the trick! Thanks!

Out of curiousity, why isn't there a "proper" way doing this? I mean, like setting MTU for example. Or better, why do the txqueuelenghts differ at all?

Thats how my /etc/conf.d/net looks like:
modules=( "wpa_supplicant" "dhcpcd" )

# 54 MBit PCI WLAN (Madwifi)
wpa_supplicant_ath0="-Dmadwifi"
wpa_timeout_ath0=60
iwpriv_ath0="bgscan 0"

Have you tried this?

I get this:

Code: Select all

 * Starting eth1
 *   Bringing up eth1
 *     192.168.3.1                                                        [ ok ]
 *     txqueuelen
 * No loaded modules provide "txqueuelen" (txqueuelen_start)

[SOLVED] Set txqueuelen via /etc/conf.d/net

Hello,

is there a way to set the txqueuelen (ifconfig ethx txqueuelen y) via /etc/conf.d/net?

Its weird, on fresh boot I have a txqueuelen of 1000 on eth0 which is on nvidia forcedeth-driver and a txqueuelen of 100 on eth1, which is on intel e1000-driver, both are gigabit interfaces.

What gives?

Linksys is based on Cisco Systems technology which is just great. Netgear and Belkin are cheap hardware crap producers and are well known for that.

You can always login via ssh from any windows or linux box.

But you may want to use proftpd and one of the available web interfaces.

This is something I hate when using Gentoo: Things got changed somewhere without letting the user know. One reboots and things go mad. I use x86 stable because I think it is and things don' t change every other day. And adding some comments to an ebuild is NOT enough, IMHO. Most users can' t even ...

I wonder how a new baselayout can go stable when it has not been tested with all features?

I use OpenVPN to create tap interfaces every day. I know of another Gentoo developer who uses tun instead.

Maybe we didn't have enough people testing with a wide variation of configs and hardware this time ...

Same here. Funny (is it?) thing is, it works when doing an "/etc/init.d/net.tap0 start" after login. :roll:

OMG.

Try "rc-update" without whitespaces. It' s a program/script, you can' t just spell it as you like. And it seems you forgot to "emerge coldplug". You' re really better of with SuSE or Ubuntu :roll:
