in addition, emerge told me to update 44 files but etc-update onlz showed me 15

deleting /var/tmp/portage/ebuild and /usr/portage/distfiles/ebuild freed my disk again!

behind /usr/src there is no /portage/distfiles, there just the linux-2.6... source. i have browsed it but there is nothing similar!

i have emerged an ebuild and it did not comleted because of running out of space. now emerge tells me that it is unable to remove that ebuild saying
what may i do to free some disk space, espacially this unused ebuild-parts?

incidently i changed my CHOST instead of CFLAGS. well, sorry if stealing time... thanks for replies!

following manual step by step (again), could not emerge coldplug saying that there is something wrong with -O2. so i change that in make.conf CFLAG="-march=pentium2" and that worked but there is another error occuring after that saying Configur Error: libtool configure failed

sorry can't remember read about properly stopping an emerge.
Problem: electician is coming in one hour and i'm still emerging openoffice (for more than 30 hours now, takes longer than gnome, wow) and i have to shut down box then.
Question: what's the best way to shutdown my box whilst emerging? thx

Perhaps the rp-pppoe init script was deprecated, I don't have it either. Instead, my /etc/conf.d/net looks like
modules=( "iproute2" )

config_eth0=("adsl" "10.1.1.3/8")
adsl_user_eth0="<<ISP USERNAME HERE>>"

Now when /etc/init.d/net.eth0 is started, it'll bring up the adsl connection on ppp0 ...

DSL (or at least any that I have encountered) does not use DHCP. You should set eth0=up

then do rc-update add rp-pppoe default

my gentoo-machine needs after every boot an adsl-start but i wanna start my network on boot. i did #rc-update add net.eth0 default

question: has it maybe something to do with booterror: dhcpcd (!!) it says that "netmount" wasn't ...
