I am actually using the gnome-light package, but for whatever reason when I emerge -vap gnome-light vs gnome I get different results. gnome-light complains that gdm is blockign gnome-session. gnome doesn't. both are attempting to install the same gnome-session so there looks like somethign screwed ...

I am running in a gnome environment and have installed lyx along with qt but for whatever reason lyx looks very poor. Is there something else that needs to be done to get lyx to use the qt3 libraries? I have also seen elsewhere (ubuntu) mention of lyx-gtk is this debian specific?
So this is still my case, I wonder if this has something to do with the order in which processes are killed when I login/logout since pulseaudio is running per user. If I logout does pulseaudio get killed before the system is attempting to play the sound? Any ideas woudl be appreciated.

is there any reason the latest version of Gnome System Tools available is 2.14 when they are way past that? Can anyone suggest any other gnome tools for System administration?
Is there anything I need to do other than emerge tracker with the deskbar and applet use flags in order to get deskbar to use the tracker indexes? Right now I seem to not be getting any tracker results from deskbar.
I previously had pulse audio installed, but during my last emerge -uDN world it conflicted with libao. I removed it and was going to try and re-emerge libao-pulse later, but I sitll have this problem. I see libao is a req for libao-pulse but I dont' see any docs indicating that this new version ...
What port is used for this? I want to enable port fwding on my router so I can use this....right now I have to use emerge-webrsync. Right now I am getting this error when I try to emerge --sync

I am not using KDE, so I can't speak on how to do it in KDE. I did this with Gnome, so I just added it to my gnome-session. I'd assume it would be basically the same thing in KDE though.
