Nothing worked.

It has resumed and keeps compiling. 431 packages remaining.

Thanks all for your help.

pkg-config not found.

Hello,

After having left my Gentoo for more than a year, I'm trying to upgrade it. No use to say that portage wants to upgrade hundreds of packets and makes errors.
However, I get the following error message on upgrading the glib that I can't solve :

Package: dev-perl/glib-perl-1.301.0

I can't get emerged the package dev-python/notify-python & dev-python/python-poppler.

I found out that it's a KDE bug. I'm updating the post as it might help someone later.

The solution is to to set a mouse acceleration different of 0 to avoid this bug. I set to 1 pixel in the system config and all is good now.

[SOLVED] Mouse always jump on (0,0) coordinates

All,

I'm having a problem appeared recently, my mouse is jumping in (0,0) coordinates just when I stop moving the cursor.
Once I move again the cursor, it restarts almost all the time from (0,0), sometimes from (x,0) or (0,y).
It reset only if I stop moving the mouse. When constantly keeping the ...

How to make fan slower with radeon driver?

Good day,

I switched recently to open source driver due to ATI no longer supporting my HD4870.
I'm please with the open source except for that the fan is running too fast and thus is too noisy.
fglrx was making it running far slower, almost noiseless.
I'm talking only of the GPU running on the KDE ...

I wouldn't object to --depclean being smarter, but there is a simple, effective workaround. You know when you build and test a new kernel. As part of that process, always add it to the world set. For example, in your case: emerge --noreplace =gentoo-sources-3.2.1-gentoo-r2 When you're finally done ...

Why emerge -depclean want to remove the inuse kernel source?

All,

All is in the title?
Why shall emerge --depclean wants to remove the in use kernel ?

I have the current kernel 3.2.1-gentoo-r2.
The newest one is 3.2.12.

On running emerge --depclean, emerge wants to remove 3.2.1 that I'm currently using, and keep the 3.2.12 that I don't use (and to plan to ...

I think the effect may be psychosomatic, or that your speakers are starting to break in and loosen up a bit with all the bassy music you've been testing out with. Either way, the patch is easy to apply (literally one line), so as long as it keeps applying I don't think there's any harm in ...

As i still had no answer from Alsa dev, I did patch my current kernel by myself.
Less then 20 sec. to paste the line code in the .c file and 2 minutes to recompile the entire kernel and modules and then reboot the computer.

I would say it was true, I feel that I have a little more deeper bass ...

Is there any way in which I could set bass and treble on Kmix?
I did saw screenshot of Kmix where the sliders are available for both treble and bass in Kmix, but not active using the Asus Xonar Essence.

I guess that this comes from the driver, which implements (or not) those two sliders.
