If you use Gxmame for a front-end, you should really do a CVS pull and grab the latest. The version in portage is broken with xmame 0.102.

Not at all. Portage x86 versions of xmame (0.102) and gxmame (gxmame-0.35_beta2) are fine together, and they have no problems at all with my rom collection ...

wx-config symlink with wxGTK 2.4 AND 2.6

This one has been puzzling me today: I had wxGTK 2.4 already installed, and went to install 2.6 too. Once emerged, I discovered that I couldn't compile applications that required the very same wxGTK 2.6 that I had just installed (one of these was the Catapult frontend from http://openmsx.sourceforge ...

Works great for me, both the ebuild and k9copy. As a sidenote, this *does* really need to be added to portage, since k9copy is the only app that can perform a decent backup dvd9->dvd5, even if it's years behind dvd shrink for windows.

hoschi, I really don't get your point, if any, so I'll try to make mine clear. When a project starts and a platform (language/architecture/whatever) for it has to be chosen, priority should to go to the platform who helps developers get the job done well and quickly, not to the one that minimizes ...

Probably not, but the fun is in trying.

I'm with you about this one, but it all comes down to one's definition of "fun". I don't think I would have much fun rewriting the whole Portage core in C, having to fight against infancy bugs and maybe see halfway that the real problem was in old portage's ...

Before *even* thinking about reimplementing Portage, what about sitting for a moment and locate the actual problem(s)? Rewriting a software from scratch just because we hope this time it will come out ...

What's this dependency phobia you are suffering of, I don't think it's rational at all. I can't understand either why adding Python to a base system would made it "fat and slow".

Apart from these things, I think we have some dangerous effort duplication here. sportage and portage-c might be among ...

thoggen non ha nulla a che vedere con DVDShrink; quest'ultimo converte DVD9->DVD5, thoggen converte DVD->Ogg/Theora, quindi è del tutto analogo ai convertitori DVD->DivX.

As far as I tried, you can't get any pdf, be it decent or not, with the docbook2* utils shipped with Gentoo. And we're talking about the very same utils that work flawlessly in other distros.

I just don't get it, and I'm surprised that very few people have shown ...

Anyway the issue remains: docbook2* utils do not work in Gentoo, neither for XML nor for SGML. I'm hoping that some developers read this...
