Konqueror Hangs after Automount upgrade

Ok, I upgraded my kernel from 2.4 to 2.6 and had to change from Supermount to Automount.

However, now when I open Konqueror and attempt to browse to "/mnt" it always hangs and I have to kill Konqueror. I know automounting is working because I can access these mounts through the shell no problem ...

Wesnoth ebuild not installing files

Hey, Wesnoth used to work fine on my system, but ever since I had it "upgraded" to 1.1, it doesn't seem to work anymore. That upgrade was part of an "emerge -uDv world" that I did overnight so I didn't pay much attention to it.

Now, when I tried to run it with:

#wesnoth

all I got was "bad command ...

I'm having the same problem on x86.

Has there been a solution to this yet?

GATOS, Xorg 7.0, ATI All in Wonder 9700 Pro

Hello, on the GATOS website it says:

Radeon TV-input code has been merged into X.Org CVS, to appear in release 7.0

and:

All-in-Wonder Radeon 9700 (Radeon300)
We have received documentation for this card and sample hardware (thanks to ATI !), work is underway.

However, now that Xorg 7.0 has ...

Disable Middle Click Paste in KDE

How do I disable the middle-click paste behaviour in KDE? I have a wheel mouse, and this is really pissing me off when I'm editing code... keeps pasting stuff when I'm scrolling.

Thanks!

Problems Dual Booting Debian [SOLVED]

Well, I fixed it.

This is what the problem was. Duh. I went to move the kernel from /dev/hde7 to /dev/hde1 and I noticed that it was a symlink! I also noticed there was another symlink there called "initrd.img" which I didn't know what it was, so I searched the grub manual for "initrd ...

Ok, so:

kernel (hd0,6)/vmlinuz

didn't work, it said this:

VFS: Cannot open root device "" or 03:01
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:01

I'll try moving the kernel into Gentoo's "/boot" (which is (hd0,0)). So then my Debian entry ...

The kernel is definitely in "/" of /dev/hde7, I have mounted that partition from Gentoo and looked, and I have tried setting:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz

in grub, but then it says it can't find the kernel and doesn't go anywhere at all.

I'm sure the kernel's loading, otherwise it wouldn't be able to ...

Problems Dual Booting Debian [SOLVED]

This is the story:

I've got a spare 20Gb on my main drive, so I partitioned 10Gb of it and put ReiserFS on it. Then I did a single partition install of the latest stable Debian to that logical partition (/dev/hde7). I skipped the bootloader installation because I'd planned to use the already ...

Cause I've never done it! So from my viewpoint, it's all just *theory* based on the docs I have read.

If someone who has done it, tells me it can be done, that verifies my theory and I will try it!

:)

Thanks again!

Ok, sharing the /boot partition seems a little dangerous, couldn't it get seriously messed, borking my whole system?

Is it possible to use the GRUB from the MBR to specify that the GRUB root of my new OS is logical partition 7 ( i.e. "root(hd0,6)" ) and then have the kernel image loaded from there ...

Installing Second OS to Extended Partition

Ok, I have my hard drive setup like so:

Primary Partition 1: /boot
Primary Partition 2: swap
Primary Partition 3: Extended Partition
Logical Partition 5: root
Logical Partition 6: /home
Logical Partition 7: 20Gb unused

So basically, I want to use the extra 20Gb to explore other OSes. I'd like to ...

Well, that didn't work. After creating the extended partition on my USB drive and then attempting to repair the ReiserFS with "--rebuild-sb" and "--rebuild-tree" I could mount the ResierFS, but all that was in it was "lost+found" full of a lot of garbage.

End result ==> FS totally borked.

Well, I ...

Ok, some weirdness.

I backup up my 512Mb USB flash drive, wiped it and deleted all partitions. I then created a single primary partition and formatted it with ReiserFS. I copied over about 200Mb of data, and shrunk the filesystem by 164Mb with "resize_reiserfs".

Next, I opened up fdisk, deleted ...

Hrm... I've just been reading up on ReiserFS, ( http://homes.cerias.purdue.edu/~florian/reiser/reiserfs.php http://lwn.net/1999/1202/a/reiserfs.html ) and it seems like it leaves the first 64k of the filesystem empty to leave space for "for partition labels or boot loaders".

If the extended ...

Yeah, it does. I've read through the respective man pages carefully, and I'm sure I can get the sizes close enough.

Sure, but as I said, how can you be sure to have *exactly* the same size for the partition you either create or resize with fdisk/cfdisk? Seems fishy to me...

Do "df", "resize_reiserfs" and "fdisk" or "cfdisk" all use the same definitions for Kb, Mb and Gb? Do any of them round?

Shrinking Reiserfs Partition

Ok, this is the situation. I have a 100GB reiserfs "/home" partition, that I want to reduce to make room to install a second OS (Debian, Kubuntu whatever I feel like at the time). Now I have about 60GB of stuff on that partition that I don't want to lose, and I don't have 60GB of excess space ...

Ok, but if I'm getting the "GRUB" message, then the BIOS must be trying to boot from the drive that has grub installed correct?

This is also the same drive that grub should be booting from, so how come grub can't find it's own drive?

If it was a problem with finding the kernel, shouldn't I at ...

New Harddrive + grub = problems

Ok, this is the story:

I bought a new hardrive (Maxtor DiamondMax 9 Plus 160 GB IDE ATA/133) and a new PCI controller card to use it (Promise Ultra 133 TX2).

I have a dual boot, Windows 2000/Gentoo system.

Problems with latest CVS emerge

Ok, here's the problem. I have a system that I dual boot with Win2k and Gentoo. This system has three partitions, an NTFS for W2k, ReiserFS for Gentoo and a VFAT that I use to share files between them.

My local (file system) CVS repository is located on the shared VFAT partition (/mnt/data ...
