Is this Dolphin on Plasma? Have you emerged kde-apps/kio-extras with the samba use flag? Check what use flags your version of kio-extras uses, and adjust accordingly.

While this reply comes rather late to be useful to you, it still seemed worth noting that the wiki article in question has since been updated.

Unfortunately the quoted Gentoo wiki article gives very little detail, and the linked articles don't enlighten much either. Since Mediawiki 1.25 the ...

With Gnome-3.14 now in portage tree (albeit masked) I decided to try it. It took a bit of work, including a fresh install and significant amount of masking/unmasking, but I've got Gnome-3.14 running on Wayland (and Systemd) on my Dell Inspiron 7700. This is an Intel/nVidia Optimus laptop, and so far ...

<Morpheus voice>Welcome, to the real world.</>

If you switch to Linux then you'd be taking the red pill. ;)

Funny though, Microsoft seemed to see it the other way around at a recent Comdex show (picture, if you can, Bill Gates as Morpheus and Steve Ballmer as Neo. Hilarious!)

More on xorg-server-1.10 woes:

re-emerged xf86-*-* as suggested by elog and minimised xorg.xconf. Still segfaults.

However, x starts if I use driver="fbdev" or "vesa".

No problems with keyboard (evidently).

Another tip for the HP2133 when setting up X:

Make sure that hald and dbus are started before attempting to configure X. Otherwise X will simply freeze as it cannot detect input devices.

Wish I'd thought of it before wasting 24 hours of fruitless labour.

The main difference between Gentoo and Vista is that the latter is like a teenager - recalcitrant, unreliable, patronising, and of course knows far better than you.

Here's a few examples:

Me: Eject external USB drive - Vista: No, you can't because there's something using the drive.
vs.

Try compiling Rosegarden without arts support.

I find that Rosegarden won't play using arts, but with alsa it's fine.

Have a look in the Gentoo package database for myspell-sv.

Add the following to your /etc/make.conf:

LINGUAS="sv" (+others - en is a good one)

Then emerge hunspell or myspell along with myspell-sv (and others you require).

with:

I've had this as well. If you open a terminal and run pstree -p, you may find several instances of beryl (or beryl-manager) running. Don't know why, but if you kill one of these the flickering stops. I commented out the wm=beryl-manager option in /etc/env.d/99kde-env and this seems to stop this ...
