Wow, I wish this had been available a few months ago when I was getting into Postgres for the first time on Gentoo. Anyway, thanks!

One nitpick:
In the USE flag section this line:
nls If this option is enabled, PostgreSQL can utilized translated strings for non-English speaking users.

Should be ...

One other thing: I've found when I do this, that I need to enable the option "Enable SSL encryption of all traffic". Otherwise, NX will try to use a different port than the one forwarded to the remote host.

Use SSH tunneling. Have putty connect to your box outside the network, then set the NX server to connect to localhost on whatever port you forwarded to the other machine. Putty can use a SOCKS proxy. Just take a look through the config options.

FreeOTFE doesn't do any filesystem-level tasks. It just handles the encryption side. In other words, only filesystems that Windows recognizes can be used. I believe someone wrote a filesystem driver for ext2 and reiserfs. Everything else won't work in Windows, AFAIK.

From what I've read, just writing zeros or random data in one pass is not enough. When I prepped my encrypted volume, I used a utility that shredded the free space according to Peter Gutmann's recommendations (can be found here: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/secure_del.html ). This ...

I did this by installing directly to the USB key when I did the windows install. Everything works fine so far. I haven't tried it on a different PC, so I'm not sure if a different drive letter would throw things off.

If your key is tight on space, try using UPX on the exe's and dll's.

This might seem overkill, but using a 2nd NIC in the machine hosting the PXE server might resolve that. I.e., only plugin to that side when you want to do PXE, otherwise use 1st.

DHCP is not easily controlled like this. Your client will accept the response from the first server to respond. That's ...

I'm using DSPAM with postfix / Cyrus IMAP.

I set up postfix to use DSPAM as a content filter in postfix, then hand it off to cyrus via LMTP. I then use Cyrus' sieve to sort detected spam to a specific folder.

I also use Horde/IMP as webmail, and can make use of it's "Report as spam" and "Report as ...

Thanks for the reply! I would prefer being able to still have the desktop on the second monitor, rather than having it turn off when playing the game. It's because NWN uses a software mouse cursor by default. The NWMouse hack from the above post does a fine job of forcing it to use a hardware cursor, which is much faster. It won't be bogged down when the play gets intense or if the game locks up. It's pretty easy to do, and the Gentoo ebuild will ...

Use a windowmanager that's capable of making windows borderless, and maximised to only one screen. Then, you run the game in windowed mode and maximise it and get rid of the borders. This is the option I personally use, and comes with the added bonus that I can still see my desktop on the other ...

Take a look at using NX:

It will help save a lot of network bandwidth, and should be easier to administer. There are ebuilds for the commercial as well as free implementation.

NWN Fullscreen & Xinerama/TwinView

Hi All:

I finally upgraded my vid card last week to a GF FX5200 (from 1st gen Radeon AIW). I've been working on getting the card's TwinView functionality working. I've got most of it set. Everything BUT Neverwinter Nights works the way I want. I want to be able to play the game fullscreen on one ...

Is the firewall seperate from the machine that is opening BitTorrent? If so, you need to use DNAT. I have an old machine as the firewall for my home network, and this is what I have:

DNAT net loc:192.168.0.245 tcp 6881:6890,6894:6999

Try running the server in debug mode, or run it from the command line without detaching as a daemon. That should give some more insight into what the problem is.

seems like this one is using 0.0.0.0 and ssh daemon is using 0.0.0.0

0.0.0.0 is shorthand in linux for all interfaces. It means the daemon is listening on any available IP, like public (12.230.18.60), private (192.168.0.1) and localhost (127.0.0.1). It's a way of simplifying things. Some like to ...
