Remmina is just a client, I am looking for a remote server that supports resize, faster performance similar to x2go. I know if can be done, as company uses Linux citrix remote desktops and they work very well (but not open source or free)

Best remote desktop solution

I am on a quest to find the best remoting tool, I like to have dumb thinclient laptops connect to my powerful desktop computer running gentoo, but have certain needs for a UI. I have been playing around with some remote desktop tools, but I am wondering if there is anything else out there that works ...

Wow, i havn't posted here in a while. Had the same problem, it was due to system libjpeg-turbo being used, using bundled version works.

DO both of these things and give it a try
1. Add bundled-libjpeg-turbo /etc/portage/profile/package.use.mask
2. Add net-im/zoom bundled-libjpeg-turbo to /etc ...

Thanks. Is there any alternate sound themes other than default gnome one(there kind of ugly). If not, we should make some gentoo ones. I could help.

What package are the gnome sonds in?

If you emerge gnome, and then look under preferences and sound, youll notice some preset sounds. Of course, they don't exist. What package can you emerge to get those sounds? Is there any packages that has any sounds that we could use for that?

Well, I kind of feel thats inconveient, and kind of overkill. Like, lets say your a developer, you just want to get this small program installed where there is not ebuild. It would take up way to much time to create an ebuild for it and then store it in an overlay. There should just be a way to do ...

A program like 'checkinstall' for gentoo portage

Hey, it would be nice is there was a program like checkinstall for ubuntu, one that would check all the files, and basically turn it into a package and install it, but still keep record of it, so it can easilly be removed or upgraded. Does one exist? How hard would it be to create one? I just don't ...

--enable-canvas and --enable-svg REALLY need to be default in the use flags, a user should not have to provide them. When a website says it requires firefox 1.5 for svg to work, gentoo users will get all confused, saying they do have 1.5, but it isn't working for the. Canvas and svg are what makes 1 ...

[SOLVED] Is there a way to emerge gnome w/ firefox?

Is there a way to emerge gnome with firefox as opposed to mozilla (which most people don't use as much anymore) so we don't have to compile to diferent versions of mozilla? This would save a lot of time and probably also space. I know gargnome uses firefox instead of mozilla?

SOLVED: Add firefox to ...

Just a quick stupid question relating to that faq thing: if you are building from a stage 1 tarball, can you just do emerge system as opposed to emerge -e system? Because that requires me to build things and if one error comes i have to start over.

As much as I love gentoo, if they did drop stage 1 support and bootstrapping, i believe there is a need to fork gentoo. The original intention was so that is was custimizable, optimizable and more, which we can't do with starting with a stage 3 tarball.

What exactly happened to stage 1? And bootstrapping?

I havn't been here in a while, and i can't really find the threads which tell me what happened. What happened to the normal stage 1 tarball that we'd bootstrap?
