Just checked and yes, the files on my system are the patched ones.

I was just trying to rule out a couple things, no worry :)

Yes, multiple reboots even.

You have enabled hwdec, right?

I'm currently using mpv 0.34 and your 495.44-r1 fix (entirely new kernel from the old one even).

Portage 3.0.28 (python 3.9.9-final-0, default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop/plasma, gcc-11.2.0, glibc-2.34-r2, 5.15.2-gentoo x86_64 ...

It doesn't solve it entirely apparently.
Programs like mpv are still logging said message to the syslog apparently so I had to re-enable the black-hole target.

This has (probably) nothing to do with gzdoom, but it seems like this is the issue people are having with the nvidia drivers.
If you've updated to a driver >470.## for some reason their libraries are calling dbus for pretty much every frame rendered using it.

Yeah, I just made that VM and it booted up just fine, I guess it was either a fluke or something to do with the state of portage/that stage3 initial install at the time.
But I can confirm at least that I have noticed it occurring, even to other people at the time. But whatever it was seems to be ...

Is this in a VM and/or a BIOS install? Because I have noticed similar issues when installing a "fresh" Gentoo in a KVM VM using a BIOS setup a couple weeks ago.

I don't know why, but these issues seemed to vanish when using UEFI boot methods instead of BIOS. That and/or using "rw" instead of "ro ...

It's true that caring about POSIX can be a good thing, but his methodology behind just dropping the patch was wrong.
Besides, there's loads of things in the Linux sphere that aren't really POSIX minded.

Most notably things like systemd, but I'd rather not open that can of worms here :P.

With regards to breakage of the patch, for completionist sake, sys-fs/lvm2-2.02.145-r2 also breaks with the patch applied.
It was a pain trying to find out what exactly caused it to break because I couldn't find something on google.

Only when a mesa recompile broke could I find this thread...

But ...

the new ebuilds (the SVN ones) seem to put their stuff directly in /usr/games/bin,
whereas the old ones put their ones into /opt/quake3 and made a 'shell' script to make it run
if you'd run quake3 inside /opt/quake3 (just like normal, not like ./quake3, just quake3, it'd run normally :))
you could ...
