Yeah, I definitely have ruby installed. And rdoc looks like javadoc, except for ruby, i.e. it produces documentation about code you write, not documentation about ruby functions

Where's ruby's "ri" command?

What do I need to emerge to get ruby's "ri" documentation command? I did some web searches and it looks like there used to be a dev-ruby/ri package, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore

Qmail identifies machine as localhost

When I try to send mail, qmail connects to the remote mail server and sends an "EHLO localhost" even though my FQDN seems to be set up properly. Where can I set the FQDN so qmail recognizes it?

Thanks
Thomas

DGE-530T Network Card: Works for a little while

I've got two brand-new DGE-530T gigabit ethernet cards on two different machines connected via a crossover cable. I'm using the sk98lin driver (although I've also tried the skge driver). The network card is found by both machines, and I have link lights on both cards. Here's the output of /sbin ...

DistCC with x86 and x86_64

Is it possible to use distcc on both an x86 and x86_64 machine to distribute the compiling for both machines? Or will compiling 32-bit code on the 64-bit machine result in invalid binaries and vice versa?

Trendware TWB-101UB (USB Bluetooth Adapter)

Does anyone have any experience with the Trendware TWB-101UB USB Bluetooth adapter? It's pretty cheap at my local computer store ($20) but I want to make sure it's compatible. The BlueZ page ( http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/features.html ) lists the TWB-102UB but not the 101...Any hope for ...

MySQL 4.1 Status for Upgrades, New Installs?

So what's the deal with MySQL 4.1 these days? I see a half-dozen or more bugs about various 4.1.x releases at bugs.gentoo.org, many of which are even resolved, but it's still hard-masked. What are the risks of emerging it on an existing Gentoo system? If I have a brand-new machine that I want to ...

Xorg Segfault

I've recently started getting some segfaults while running X.org. They don't seem to be related to what I'm doing on the machine at the time, and sometimes I'll go days without seeing a segfault. However, I have made one hardware change: I've added a second video card, a Cirrus Logic GD 5464, and I ...

Hello!

I'm trying to emerge gvim 7.0, which is hard masked. I added the following lines to /etc/portage/package.unmask:

However, when I try to emerge gvim after doing this, I still get version 6 ...

Sorry, not trying to speak 'mysteriously'. There's a whole bunch of packages--First it was the GNOME accessability package (I forget the ebuild package name) then I re-emerged that, then it complained about xine-libs, so I re-emerged that, now it's complaining about a different package. Basically my ...

Change MAC address before DHCPing?

Is there a way I can get Gentoo to change the MAC address of my ethernet card before it tries to bring it up via DHCP? I know I can use ifconfig's 'hw' parameter for statically-configured net interfaces, but can I pass anything besides 'dhcp' for my iface_eth0 parameter in my conf.d/net file?
