I'm trying to figure out why gnome color manager keeps failing. Any help would be appreciated!

gdm just sits there after trying to log in

Hi,

I'm trying to log into my Gnome session. However, after I try to log in the gdm screen just sit there and I don't enter my desktop. Any ideas as to why?

I figured it out. I had copied a version of "xorg.conf" from a user and their keyboard was set to "fr" instead of "us", so I was typing the wrong characters.

kdm - login fails for all users [SOLVED]

I just set up kde-4.0 and kdm. Whenever I try to login I get "login failed". I know the password is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening?

ipw2200/eth1 does not exist after install [SOLVED]

Hello,

I just completed an install of 2008.0 on a Dell Latitude D810 laptop with an Intel wireless card. During the install it was picked up fine. I went through all of the normal steps via the quick install guide, but when I boot up I get:

"device eth1 does not exist"

Any ideas what is going on ...

For anyone using gnome-experimental overlay, and requiring the gnome terminal transparency to work, the fixed vte is added now to xeffects overlay. layman -a xeffects to get it.

Hi,

I followed with no success. Here's my dmesg output:
Using PowerMac machine description
Total memory = 768MB; using 2048kB for hash table (at cfe00000)

Can't get sound recognized in Powermac G4 M8840LL/A

I can't get my sound recognized in my powermac g4 machine. I installed ALSA in the kernel but see nothing when I "dmesg". Any ideas?
