The 9800 does make a HUGE difference, I'm still a little concerned about the performance with Flash and Firefox but at least it's usable now.

Also changing the module settings helped a lot too.

Yes it is but it's not and thats the problem...

at least i can stop looking into a possible agp problem

I'm going to let this linger for a bit, it is an 8200 onboard card. So I've ordered a 9800 GTX, if I still have troubles THEN I'll really start to worry =P

I can't figure out why the AGP module isn't loading. Does anyone have any suggestion? Is this even normal to see with PCIe? Information on this is extremely scarce

M3N78-VM onboard geforce 8200 has no AGP?

After upgrading my motherboard to an ASUS M3N78-VM and getting my network problem solved (udev, go figure) I tested the graphic performance using the nvidia driver. Previously I had an AGP x4 GeForce 6800 which was fairly decent performance so I figured with an 8200 (even an on board) I'd get at ...

No, that would be stupid :p

I commented out that first line with eth0 and changed the second one from eth1 to eth0 and that did the trick.

Thanks for helping point me in the right direction with this d2_racing!

MCP78S network troubles [SOLVED]

I picked up a new ASUS M3N78-VM motherboard today and am having a heck of a time with getting the networking enabled. Using Knoppix I find that it appears to use the forcedeth driver but it doesn't work in Gentoo for me. I'm not sure why or if it really does use the forcedeth.

lspci lists the ...

What happened to xview?

I can't find any reference (or I'm just not digging far enough) but x11-libs/xview no longer exists in portage. Is this intentional or something else?

Any suggestions on a similar package? I use gqview mostly but for quickly opening one image xview was the best option.

I tested out all my old kernels and found this was introduced after 2.6.22-gentoo-r2 which I previously enabled the option over it's default of being disabled.

Excessive USB polling

After building a new kernel (2.6.24-gentoo-r8) for device mapper support and rebooting it is constantly finding a new USB device. I think it might be from my MMC device that I had working once but hasn't in a year for some odd reason that has never really bothered me too much. But getting this ...

Saitek mouse falling asleep

I've been using a Saitek USB Gaming Mouse for sometime now and find it to be a great mouse, but if it goes unused for a few minutes the devices seems to go into a sleep mode and takes a few seconds to wake up when used again. Everything works fine with it and I have no problems other then this odd ...

I've never been able to get anything under cedega to run in a separate xsession (I use xgame for a lot of native games).

But starting another xsession would need extra scripts to keep xfwm4 from running and is just another (long and needless) workaround. It's easier to run beryl-manager and switch ...

Checking around the XFCE team is claiming this is a wine problem when it only seems to BE a problem with xfwm...
apparently since none of the developers run any of these apps that have these problem they can't reproduce it and every other app they try with wine works fine, so therefor there's ...

I see the same problems but not with all the games, windowed has no problems but some games when run full screen lose keyboard focus. I'm sure this is a XFCE4.4 bug since it worked with XFCE4.2

HL2 would start but minimize somewhere...you can hear it running but can't find it, doesn't show up in ...

I think I've found the problem here, it's crazy and I don't know the 'proper way' to fix it so I had to do it via brute force...

Even though everything system wise was pointing towards gcc-4.1.1 the portage profile was using the gcc-3.4.5 because even though I've removed it, the binaries and libs ...
